YCS Fund Raising Event- Collection Of Old Newspapers & Recyclable Materials

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” Keeping this quote in mind the YCS members decided to raise their fund through means of hard work by collecting recyclable waste such as newspapers, bottles, cardboards, etc. Recycling helps protect the environment. It saves energy; it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators.

The YCS members allotted dates to different wards of the parish for the collection of recycling waste. The parish priest Fr Aquin had made announcements requesting parishioners to encourage the YCS by giving their old and waste products. On the allotted days the members collected newspapers, old books, plastic bottles and many other things by going to each parishioner’s house.

Through this exercise the YCS members learnt the value of money and how much effort needs to be put in to earn it. Getting together and working as a team was an enjoyable experience. Most importantly the support and encouragement derived from the parishioners in helping the YCS collect funds is commendable.

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. ”
