Pilgrimage to Kalmadi, Perampalli & Udyavar churches

2020 January 15th Wednesday was a memorable day for the members of the Catholic Sabha St.Dominic Church , Ashoknagar, because the president of the unit Mr. Ronald Colaco along with the secretary Mr. Winson D’ Souza organized a pilgrimage to the above mentioned churches.

36 members were present at the church at 8.00a.m. As soon as the bus arrived all the participants got into the bus to occupy their seats. Fr. Aquin Noronha O.P. blessed us and prayed for our safe journey. Our bus left the church campus at 8.30a.m.The pilgrims were singing the hymns.

At 10.a.m. had the breakfast in the bus itself. At 11.30a.m. reached Our Lady Of Fatima Church, Perampalli. The huge church and a tall belfry is worth seeing. The pilgrims entered the church and prayed for their intentions and viewed all the sculptures and paintings. Pictures of the Alter were clicked by some of the members.

At 12.30 proceeded to Kalmadi ‘Stella Maris Church. It was a beautiful boat shaped building. All occupied the front seats in the church and prayed together the Rosary of the ‘Divine Mercy and Novena prayers of Vailankanni Mother Mary led by Mrs. Lynet Almeida.

At 1.30 p.m. all gathered in a large room for indoor games and for our noon meals. All the arrangements were done by Fr. Praveen Monteiro O.P. All enjoyed to the brim till 4.30p.m. Games were conducted by Mr. Winson D’ Souza, Mrs. Noreen Pinto and Mrs. Violet Lobo. Prizes were awarded to the winners. There was a good entertaining including dance. The meals with fish fry and chicken sukka was delicious. We had an opportunity to greet the occasion of wedding anniversaries of Mr & Mrs Claude Juliet Pinto and Mr & Mrs. John.V. Juliana D’Souza couples. Breakfast and all the food items even prizes for the games were sponsored by some of the office bearers of the unit.

At 5.00p.m. all moved towards Malpe beach and had a beautiful sea-walk in the evening sun.

5.45 p.m. we returned towards Mangalore. At the return Journey we visited St. Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar. There we viewed the beautiful glass paintings depicting Biblical Stories.

Finally we journeyed back to Mangalore, and at 7.30 p.m.reached Ashoknagar, St. Dominic church campus safely.
