Christmas celebration - 2020 at St. Dominic Church, Ashoknager

Christmas is the season of joy, peace, and happiness. It is a special day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Christmas Eve was celebrated with much joy and religious fervor at St. Dominic Church, Ashoknagar on 24th December 2020 at 6.30 PM. As the spread of Covid-19 was still a major issue, proper thermal screening, hand sanitization and social distancing made it possible to have the celebration of Christmas Eve inside the Church.

The celebration commenced with the carol singing led by the Choir members as well as the Dominican brothers. This brought joy and happiness among all of the gathered people. This was followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Fr. Pratik Pereira O.P. was the main celebrant. Fr. Sunil Lobo OP delivered an inspiring homily based on the birth of Jesus. The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha OP, Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Royston Lobo, and other priests from the Dominican community were the co-celebrants. The Melodious Parish Choir helped the gathered people to pray and participate in the Eucharistic celebration. This was followed by the felicitation of meritorious students in the SSLC, PUC, Degree/Engineering examinations 2019-20. The Parish Priest Fr. Aquin Noronha OP was honored during this occasion since he has been appointed as the Vice-Provincial of the Dominican Province in India. The Parish priest thanked everyone for their help and co-operation in making this event a grand success. The event ended with the recessional hymn during which the statue of Baby Jesus was kept for devotees to express their devotion in the form of a bow. To sweeten the mouth of the devotees on the occasion of the feast of the birth of Jesus cake was distributed sponsored by some generous donors.
