Children’s Day celebration at Kalwai B Ward (17th November 2018)

Children’s day was organised at Lourdes ward, Kalwal B on 17th November at Irene Meneze’s house. The ward Gurkar Mr. Ronald Colaco welcomed the Parish Priest Fr. Aquin Noronha and all the ward members. The program began with the prayer session led by ward members such as the angelus, recitation of one decade of the rosary, Word of God, reflection by Fr. Aquin, prayers of the faithful and hymn to mother Mary. After the prayer cultural program was arranged starting with welcome dance followed by cultural dances. Children were felicitated on this day especially Ms. Emily Menezes who won prizes in Karate competition at the national level. Verities of Games were conducted by the ward members for the children and elders. To add joy to the program Harry’s band from Bejai gave colourful voices and mesmerised the audience. Prizes were distributed. In his speech the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha highlighted the importance of children’ day and childhood days. He brought back the fresh memories his childhood days. Mr. Richard Gonsalves, the representatives of the ward as well as the vice-president of the Parish was chosen and was requested to address the children and parents on the importance value of Children’s day and their responsibilities. Two sisters Riona and Risha Lasrado beautifully summarised the origin of Children’s day and its impact on children. It was also a great day to thank God for the gift of Mrs. Elsy Culaco who celebrated her birthday by cutting the cake along with children. A delicious and sumptuous meal was served. Mr. Ronald Colaco thanked all those who sponsored meal and contributed financially for the success of the day. Mrs. Jane Misquith compered the Program. Above all it was a memorable event. A good number of children and war members turned up for the program.
