Christmas Sambhram-2018 at St. Dominic Church Ashoknagar, Mangalore.

The Parish Council members and the Sunday Catechism Teachers of St.Dominic Church Ashoknagar organized ‘Christmas Sambhram -2018’ with the catechism students of St. Dominic church to inculcate the values of concern, sharing and caring by inviting the inmates of the three neighboring orphanages known as Ashraya Ashram from Bejai, Sneha Deepa Ashram from Kapikad and White Doves Ashram from Kulshekar on16th December 2018 evening between 6 P.M. to 9.30 P.M. at the Parish Jubilee hall.

The Programme began with a Prayer Dance by parish children followed by lighting the lamp by the parish priest Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha O.P., vice president Mr. Richard Gonsalves, secretary Isaac Furtado, and the heads of the 3 orphanages Mr. Lancelot Pinto, Sr. Jenevive and Mr.Gerald.

The cultural programme consisted of several dances by, I.C.Y.M. members and the different groups of the orphanages. A musical band called ‘RHYTHM’ group headed by Mr.Alwyn Menezes of Kalwai B Ward was fascinating and kept the audience alert throughout by their favorite songs.

A tableau displayed depicting the ‘BIRTH OF JESUS ’was awesome. The ‘carol singing’ of the choir members was melodious. The arrival of ‘Santa’ in between and distributing sweets and prizes was thrilling. The ICYM member Mr. Chris Crasta along with other members conducted several group games to all the children and the prizes were distributed to the winners.

On behalf of the three orphanages Mr. Lancelot Pinto expressed the words of gratitude for organizing such a beautiful programme at this occasion. Fr.Aquin Noronha gave a brief Christmas Message. Mrs. Joan Vas welcomed the gathering; Mr. Richard Gonsalves proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Sylvia D’Costa compered the program. About 250 children were present for the program. Some generous parishioners came forward to contribute for the expenses of the program. The program concluded with a delicious meal which was served to all the participants.

It was a great joy and pleasure for our parish priest Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha to celebrate his birthday on 19th December with our parish children and Ashram inmates by cutting the cake and sweetening the mouth of children.
