Mother’s and Women’s Day Celebration on 13th September 2026

The St. Dominic Association, Ashoknagar, hosted a special Mother’s and Women’s Day celebration for the women of the parish on 13th September 2026. The programme began with a prayer, followed by the stage programme. Rev. Fr. Daniel Veigas, Parish Priest; Rev. Fr. Meckenzie Mendonsa, Assistant Parish Priest; Mr. Isac Furtado, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs. Meera Mendonsa, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs. Flavy Lobo, Co-ordinator of the 21 Commissions; Mr. Pradeep John Fernandes, President of the St. Dominic Association; Mrs. Sunitha Nazareth, Secretary of the St. Dominic Association; and Mrs. Preethi Castelino, a new mother, along with her newborn daughter, Amaira Welina Castelino, were present on the dais. The mother and her newborn daughter were a special highlight of the evening.

The Association President, Mr. Pradeep John Fernandes, welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Sunitha D’Cunha introduced Mrs. Preethi Castelino, the new mother, and her family to the gathering. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony by Preethi and all the mothers present. She was then felicitated on the occasion.

Mrs. Pravilla Dimple Fernandes shared her thoughts on motherhood and delivered a meaningful message highlighting the love, sacrifice and invaluable role of mothers and women in the family and society.

Rev. Fr. Daniel Veigas addressed the gathering with a special Mother’s Day message, reflecting on the significance of mothers and women in our lives. The celebration continued with lively and entertaining games conducted by Mr. Sathish D’Souza and Mr. Welvin Castelino. The enthusiastic participation of the women added to the joy and spirit of the occasion. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the association Secretary Mrs. Sunitha Nazareth. Rev. Fr. Meckenzie Mendonsa blessed the food, followed by dinner. Refreshing mocktails and live music throughout the programme added to the festive atmosphere.

The entire programme was beautifully emceed by Mr. Paul D’Souza. The evening came to a cheerful close with baila, leaving everyone with happy memories of a warm and memorable celebration honouring the women of the parish.
