Grandparents Day Celebrations, 10/08/2025

YCS unit of St. Dominic Church Ashoknagar celebrated Grandparents day on 10th August 2025 in the Silver Jubilee Hall at 9:30 am to honour and celebrate the wisdom, love and legacy of our beloved grandparents. The formal programme commenced with a prayer song led by the YCS members, which was followed by welcome address by Riya Lobo, the YCS President by welcoming the Chief Guests Rev Fr Daniel Veigas OP, the Parish Priest, Fr Meckenzie Mendonsa OP, the Assistant Parish Priest, Maxim Crasta, the Vice President, Deborah Locker, the Secretary, and Meera Mendonca, the Cordiantor of 21 Commissions with roses. Fr Daniel Veigas addressed an inspiring message emphasising the importance of valuing the elderly and learning from their life experiences and appreciated the good initiative of YCS. Mr Maxim Crasta, the Vice President encouraged the children to respect the grandparents. Mrs Celestine Dias shared her experience as a grandparent and joy of being with grandchildren. YCS students Nash D’Souza and Kaeyne Lobo shared their experiences of being with their grandparents. Variety entertainment programmes and games were organised for the elders. As a token of love, momentos were presented to the grandparents. The winners of “Drawing Competition and Collage Making Competition” conducted by the YCS for the Catechism Children were given prizes and all the participants got the complementary prizes respectively. The program concluded with vote of thanks by YCS Secretary Gleyona Mendonca. The whole program was compered by Rishalle D’Souza.
