Visit to De Mercede Orphanage, Deralakatte 26th July 2026

On Sunday, 26th July 2026, St. Dominic Association, Ashoknagar, organized a visit to De Mercede Orphanage Paneer, Deralakatte. The members assembled at the St Dominic Church Ashoknagar in the afternoon before proceeding to the orphanage. Bus transportation was arranged for all the members. Approximately 200 people, including the orphanage children, staff, parishioners, and members of the association, participated. Upon reaching the orphanage in the evening, refreshments were served to everyone. Games and fun-filled activities were organized for the children. This was followed by cultural programmes presented by the parish members, including a skit, dance performances, and singing.

The stage programme began with a warm welcome to Sister Renita, Parish Priest Fr. Daniel Veigas, Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Meckenzie Mendonsa, Vice President Isaac Furtado, Secretary Meera Mendonsa, Association President Sujatha Mendonsa, and Association Secretary Alwyn Pinto with roses. Association President Sujatha Mendonsa, Parish Priest Fr. Daniel Veigas, and Sister Renita addressed the gathering with inspiring words.

Prize winners were announced and honoured. A cheque of rupees 60,000 collected through the generous contributions of parishioners and association members, was presented to the orphanage. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Association Secretary Alwyn Pinto. Dinner was served to all the children, staff, and guests. Gifts and chocolates were distributed to every child, and the celebration ended with a joyful baila dance. The visit reflected the true spirit of Christian fellowship, love, and service, making it a memorable and meaningful experience for everyone.
