Holy Cross (Kodical A) Ward Day Celebrations:Date: 16th September 2018

The members of the Holy Cross Ward celebrated their ward day on the 16th of September with the celebration of the Eucharist at 8 am . In the evening they got together at 6 pm at the parish hall. The programme began at 6 pm with great enthusiasm and joy having a great number of the families being present on time along with little children and youth.

The MC of the day Norgi D’silva welcomed the gathering in a very jovial manner setting the mood for the evening. This was followed by the prayer service led by Mrs. Apolline Menezes and other members. The gurkar Alwyn Pinto gave the welcome address.

Mother’s day as well as Teachers day was celebrated calling forward all mothers and teachers and the cake was cut by the eldest member of the ward Alice Fernandes along with others. Thereafter all were served cupcakes .

A short formal programme was conducted wherein the Assistant Parish priest Fr. Praveen Monteiro, the vice president- Richard Gonsalves, Secretary- Isaac Furtado , Superior of St. Joseph’s convent Sr. Agnelo were called on stage and felicitated with a rose. Words of encouragement were spoken by Fr. Praveen and Richard Gonsalves.

A cultural programme with a lot of variety was organised which began with a dance by the little children, skit by the youth and other enthusiastic actors of the ward, Musical mando which was thoroughly enjoyed by all tapping their feet to the music of trumpet, violin, keyboard and guitar and lovely singing by the youngsters.

The children and the youth had put in a lot of effort to come together and practice and train the younger children . To encourage them and as a token of appreciation they were all given gifts . Debbie Locker organised group games involving all the members which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The vote of thanks was given by the Gurkar Alwin Pinto who thanked the guests, the sponsors as well as the ward members who took part in the celebration. Dinner was served at 8.50 pm .

A memorable evening which was highly appreciated by all came to an end as the ward members went home carrying pleasant memories.
