Small Christian Community training at Ashoknagar

On Sunday 27th January 2019 Small Christian Community training program was conducted in our parish. In preparation for the training, Small Christian community diocesan director Rev.Fr. Jochim Fernandes celebrated the 8am mass and preached the necessity of small Christian community meaningfully during the sermon. Breakfast was arranged for the participants of the program.

At 9:30 am with the honoring of the Holy Bible, the program was started. The Holy Bible was brought in procession by Rev Fr. Aquin Noronha and was accompanied by Fr.Jochim, Sr. Jyothi, Sr. Anitha, Dominican brothers, parish pastoral committee vice-president and secretary and 10 ward gurkars with candles, flowers, garland and incense. The Holy Bible was respectfully placed in the designated place and was honored with a garland. Rev Fr. Aquin Noronha read the word of God and delivered his message on the word of God beautifully.

SCC parish coordinator Mrs. Euginia Pinto gave a brief introduction of diocesan director Fr. Jochim Fernandes, and also welcomed each and everyone to the program. After this Rev. Fr. Jochim took charge of the program. He explained what is SCC? Why it is needed, how to keep it lively, with the help of detailed slides he had prepared. The main message of the training was “The Holy Catholic Church founded by our Lord Jesus Christ is a vast Community and our family and wards are its Fundamental Cells.”

The participants were than divided into 7 groups and each of each of the group was given a topic for discussion and questions on the same. After 15 minutes of discussion the group leader presented their answers in the front of the crowd. Fr Jochim appreciated the efforts put by the participants and also presented his interpretation on the same questions.

Parish priest Fr. Aquin then asked the opinion of participants on how to make our SCC Community even stronger and decided to choose willful and active candidates to form a Parish Animation Team (PAT). The training program was ended by invoking the blessing of the Holy Bible. Vice president Richard Gonsalves proposed vote of thanks. SCC coordinator Mrs. Euginia Pinto led the program. SCC secretary Mrs. Stella Ferrao was present and assisted in the conduction of program. Mr. Vinol Pinto helped in the PowerPoint presentation. The program was ended fruitfully at 12 noon.
