YCS - share and care

To mark the year of rosary in the Mangalore diocese, the YCS members all over the diocese celebrated ‘Share-Care September’ 2018. Accordingly the YCS members of our parish along with our animators Mrs Deborah Locker and Mr Suraj Nunes visited the sick and elderly people in our parish and spent some quality time with them. This was done in the month of September to signify and celebrate Mother Mary’s birthday in a meaning full way.

On the 15th of September we visited 9 elderly and sick people of our parish. It was a joy to note that we were welcomed by them so warmly and it was an experience that touched us deeply to note that as young people we can bring joy just by spending quality time with the elderly and sick.

A decade of rosary and a spontaneous prayer invoking blessings and healing on the people we visited was prayed. We sought their blessings and gave a listening ear to their inspiring stories. Each one was given a greeting card which read “GOD LOVES YOU” prepared by the YCS and some gifts as a token of our love.

The YCS members learnt a lot from this visit- most importantly to value our elderly and note how much they have sacrificed for us. It also taught us a beautiful lesson in life and that is to love and care for the sick and elderly and listen to what they have to share.
