Catholic Sabha :



Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R) with its Moto “Service, sacrifice & unity”. Started its 129th unit at Ashoknagar on 14-11-1999 with 78 life members. Mr. Walter D’souza, Mr. Maritto Sequeira & Mr. Godwin Pinto conducted the election & Dr. Norbert Pereira was elected as president and Mr. Valerian Pinto as the secretary and Fr Peter Mendonca as the spiritual Director. We now have 364 life members.

Main activities of Catholic Sabha:

1. Create political awareness in the parish.

2. Take part in the protest against violence.

3. Enrollment of names in the voters list.

4. Help obtain, Aadhaar card, senior citizens cards, health cards.

5. Educate students & parents on various schemes scholarships, loans, and any other schemes by Government.

6. Arrange medical awareness &medical camps.

7. Visit orphanage, and old age homes.

8. Celebrate feasts with other communities for peace & harmony.

9. Work outside the church with other communities & spread “word of God” by work/deeds.

10. Enforce clean and green environment around our area.


Like every year, the Catholic Sabah Ashoknagar unit of St Dominic Church celebrated senior citizen day on 7th October 2018 at Silver Jubilee hall St Dominic Church, Ashoknagar, Mangalore.

              The program was attended by 120 senior citizens along with the catholic Sabah central President Mr. Rolphy D’souza. Episcopal City Varado President, Mr. Patrick D’souza, Parish Priest Fr. Aquin Noronha, President Mr. Ronald Colaco, Vice President Mr. Richard Gonsalves, secretary Mr.Isacc Furtado.

               The programme began with a prayer song followed by welcome dance.  Dignitaries were welcomed on the dias & was followed by lighting of the lamp. The enthusiastic gathering were enlightened by the words bestowed on them by Mr. Rolphy D’costa, Mr. Patrick D’souza, Fr. Aquin Noronha,& Mr Issac Furtado .

                The 86th birthday of Mrs. Molly Goveas, 70th birthday of Ms Juliana Crasta and 58th birthday of Mr. Francis Ronald Colaco were celebrated. All those celebrate their birthdays and marriage anniversaries in the month of October were invited to cut the cake thereafter.

              The gathering was filled with fun & jolly as cultural program was conducted in the form of skit, games and songs. The winner of the games was given prizes. As we were concluding our program the president said a few words to the gathering and the program was concluded by a vote of thanks by Mrs. Juliana D’ Souza. People still continued to interact as food was served and old memories were brought to life with their conversation.
