ST. DOMINIC CHOIR NEWS:

Feast of St. Cecilia at St Dominic Church Ashoknagar (18th November 2018)

The parish choir celebrated the choir feast of St. Cecilia on 18th November during 8 o’clock Konkani mass. The main celebrant of the festive mass was Rev. Fr. Ronald Serrao, the dean of Theology at St. Joseph’s major seminary Jeppu accompanied by our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha and Frs. Alfonce Jojo, Arogya Britto, Pratik Pereira, Vincent MCBS of Dominican Community. The president of the choir Mrs. Reshma D’souza briefed the introduction on Saint’s life as well as liturgy. First reading was read by Mrs. Dorita Monteiro, responsorial psalm was sung by Ms. Rhea D’souza, 2nd reading by Mr. Norbert Noronha and thanksgiving prayer after the communion was by Rayan Fernandes. After the mass Fr. Rony Serrao was honoured for his great contributions in the Liturgy.

A small stage program and cultural program was organised in the evening which began at 6.30 pm. The president Mrs. Reshma D’souza welcomed the dignitaries to the Dias. The annual report was read by the secretary Mrs. Juliana D’souza. The chief guest for the evening program was Mr. Joel Pereira, the famous music director in Mangalore. In his message he highlighted the value and importance of singing during liturgy. In his message the Parish Priest and Director of Parish Choir Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha expressed the value of sacrifice, commitment and joy in singing by the members. In his thanksgiving speech the choir teacher Mr. Julian D’souza expressed his heartfelt thanks to the parents of the members for sending their children to the choir as well as recalled the past memories of those choir members for their dedication and difficulties times they went through. During the program two choir members were honoured for their great achievements. Mr. Walter D’costa from Shediguri B for his great achievement in the field of body building at the national level and Ms. Sania D’souza from Kodical A in the field of swimming at the national level. To add joy to the gathering a fun filled and thrilled culture program was arranged which included prayer dance, cultural dance, famous Goan mixed Mangalorean Mando, magic show by seminary brothers as well as verities of games. A delicious and sumptuous meal was served. The program ended at 9 pm. Mr. Cleophas Mendonca compered the program.
