Feast of St. Dominic 6th August 2023

The feast of our patron St. Dominic De Guzman was celebrated on the 6th of August 2023. In preparation of the feast, Nine days- NOVENA -special prayers were offered during Eucharistic celebrations through the intercession of St. Dominic. Preaching and instructions on the theme FAMILY THE FOUNDATION OF FAITH AND RELATIONSHIP- HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS TO LIVE HERE were given to the faithful.

Confraternity Sunday was celebrated on 30th July 2023.

On 6th August, the festal celebrations began with the distribution of Murddom candles at 9 a.m. followed by the Eucharistic Celebration.

Rev. Fr. J. B. Saldanha- Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier Church- Bejai and the PRO of Mangalore Diocese was the main celebrant and priests from other parishes in the diocese and religious orders along with Fr. Daniel Veigas- parish priest of our church, Fr. Dileep Veigas- Asst. Parish Priest as well as the Dominican priests con -celebrated the mass.

Fr. J. B. Saldanha in his homily mentioned about St. Thomas Aquinas – Doctor of the church who had a great spiritual experience during consecration of the Holy Eucharist and the joy that he felt when he saw the face of God which made him feel that whatever he had written so far in theology was just straw. He set all his books on fire but whatever was saved has been very useful guide for the doctrines and teaching of the Church.

He also mentioned that transfiguration takes place in our lives with every sacrament received by us.

Family is the foundation of faith and relationship. No famiy is a perfect family. You do not find perfect couples, or perfect children. We need to accept the challenges in life and grow in holiness each day.

At the end of mass Firgent and donors were honoured with candles by the main celebrant Fr. J. B. Saldanha.

The parish choir enabled us to pray by their graceful and melodious singing.

After mass snacks and soft drinks were served. The members of ICYM organized a few games to entertain the people.
